Letter and Paper folding machines all fold paper the same way: Folding machines have metal folding plates that the paper travels through. These folding plates are just a little longer and wider than the length and width of the paper to be folded. At the end of the plate is a metal stopper (which can be adjusted to make the different length of paper fold ) . As the paper slams into this stopper, the roller pulls the paper back into the folder, creasing it and thus giving the paper a fold. The paper then travels to the next plate and a second fold is put into the paper the same way.
Differences that letter and paper folders have are the speed, durability, quality and options.
